Warts are caused by the Human Papilloma Virus. They can be unsightly and very painful when on the bottom of the feet (plantar warts). Once warts appear on the skin, they rarely disappear on their own but fortunately there are effective treatments available.
Depending upon the type and location of the wart, The Podiatry Room will either freeze the wart or use debridement and acid treatments. When warts are frozen they simply drop off after a few days. Debridement is a more involved process which involves surgically removing the top of the wart and applying an acid.
Many warts will be dealt with in 1 treatment but plantar warts can take numerous treatments to permanently remove. We have successfully used debridement to permanently remove plantar warts that have not been responsive to over-the-counter wart treatments.
